Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma hit back at All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal after the latter claimed that Congress-AIUDF would reopen the Madrasas if they come into power in Assam. He also said that Congress-AIUDF would take decisions to reopen the Madrasas and provide ST status to the six communities in its first cabinet.
Sarma while responding to Ajmal’s statement said that his dream to reopen Madrasas would never be fulfilled. He further said that “Ajmal’s cabinet will be in Bangladesh or Pakistan. It will never be at Dispur. We will not allow that.”
“Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma closed the Madrasa education. We will reopen it if we come to power. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sarbananda Sonowal have lost sleep after knowing about Congress-AIUDF alliance,” Ajmal had said earlier. Targeting minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ajmal also said that Dr. Sarma is afraid of Congress-AIUDF alliance.
