Assam Election: AASU holds anti-CAA protests amid Narendra Modi’s Election rally

All Assam Students Union (AASU) started Anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests during PM Modi’s visit to Sipajhar and Bihpuria in Assam.

Various units of AASU and Assam Jatiyabadi Yuva Chatra Prarishad (AJYCP) have launched the protests ahead of the Assam Assembly elections.

BJP fielded former Asom Sahitya Sabha president Paramananda Rajbonshi in Sipajhar election rally.

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal even termed CAA a ‘central act’ that will be implemented by all means.

The state-wide anti-CAA protests will be launched on March 25, two days before Assam polls.

Meanwhile, AASU’s Darrang unit observed an 11-hour long hunger strike demanding scrapping of CAA at the ASTC campus in Mangaldai.

AASU members also staged a protest at Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati, shouting slogans demanding scrapping of CAA.

AASU activists also took part in bike rallies in different parts of the state on March 20 to protest against the act.
