Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman conferred to Gandhi Peace Prize

The Gandhi peace prize for the year 2020 is conferred on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

The jury of the prize chaired by PM Narendra Modi and comprising the Chief Justice of India and leader of the single largest opposition party in Lok Sabha unanimously selected the name of Rahman for the award.

The other eminent members of the jury are speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla and Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of the social service organization Sulabh.

The committee selected his name for his contribution towards social, economic and political transformation through non-violence and other Gandhian methods.

India is honoured to be commemorating his legacy jointly with the Government of Bangladesh and its people as Bangladesh celebrates Mujib Borsho.
