Complying with the decision of North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) on Wednesday announced to observe ‘Black Day’ across the state on December 11 in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Highlighting about the proposed protest, AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai said, “The protest in the form of Black Day observations across the state and northeast by the constituent members of NESO is a grim reminder of the injustice the central government had meted out to the people of Northeast. Though it will be a peaceful protest, through it we want to remind the BJP regime in the Centre that in democratic setup it is not always about the ballot or the number of representatives you have in the parliament but sometimes about the genuine feeling of people.”

It is to be noted that, NESO comprises of AAPSU, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) and Garo Students’ Union (GSU), in a statement on Tuesday announced that December 11 will always be observed as ‘Black Day’ across the seven Northeast states by displaying black flags and banners.
