Arunachal: Anti Drug Squad Team Arrests Drug Peddlers

A resident of the 2 Mile neighbourhood identified as Koha Manchey (48) was taken into custody on Wednesday by a joint team of the anti-drug squads (ADS) of Changlang and Namsai districts.

The arrest was made after the Changlang ADS, led by SI AN Singh, stopped a car at a naka point in Taipong area and checked the vehicle in the presence of Magistrate Atu Yekar.

Manchey was found in possession of clothes smeared with raw opium weighing roughly 666 gms.

In response to his statement, the combined team conducted a raid at his home in 2 Mile under the supervision of the SPs of the two districts. They found a sizable stash of opium there, weighing roughly 2.168 kg, as well as the revenues from its sale, totaling Rs 31,350.

Earlier on the same day, a surprise naka checking was conducted at Namdang by the Changlang ADS, led by Inspector C Yanchang. During checking, a car coming from Assam was intercepted, and on searching the vehicle, the ADS recovered suspected brown sugar weighing approximately 13.84 gms from the vehicle.

The owner of the drug has been identified as Hunkap Tangha (25). Both his car and the drug were seized.

Changlang SP Mihin Gambo informed that a criminal case under the NDPS Act has been registered in this regard.
