Arunachal: APPSC whistle-blower Gyamar Padang Passes away

Arunachal Pradesh’s whistle-blower Gyamar Padang who exposed the leak of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) question paper died at Asian Institution of Gastroenterology Hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

According to reports Padang was suffering from health issues, however his condition deteriorated following which he was undergoing treatment. 

A pall of gloom descended upon civil service aspirants following the demise of Padang who spearheaded the APPSC fiasco. Tributes started to pour in from all sectors after the news of his demise spread across the state. People took to social media and condoled his demise.

It is to be mentioned that in August, 2022, Gyamar Padang lodged an FIR at the Itanagar police station, complaining that the question papers for the APPSC were leaked. 

The fiasco created a massive uproar in the State following which massive agitation took place. The CBI had to take over the investigation from the Capitol Police, and later it had to be transferred to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police. 

Earlier, the state government also agreed that whistle-blower Gyamar Padang would be recognised befittingly for his contribution in the paper leak case.
