Arunachal Pradesh farmers and institutions win several prizes to become the cynosure of all eyes during the valedictory function of three-day CAU-Regional Agriculture Fair (RAF)-2020-21, themed Agriculturally Vibrant & Self Reliant NE hilly Region, at Imphal.
A team of College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF), Pasighat led by dean Dr B N Hazarika besides associate Prof Dr Pranab Sharma, assistant manager Evie Koyu, East Siang KVK programme coordinator in-charge S M Hussain, 10 farmers and 3 entrepreneurs attended the fair.
While the CHF bagged second prize (best exhibition stall); East Siang KVK (best exhibition stall among all KVKs); four Arunachal farmers won best farming practicing prize, including Akuluk Lumtum (Best farmer award), Obi Darang (3rd prize in post-harvest product) and Hema Taki (3rd prize in poster presentation), Koyu and Hussain told this daily over telephone on Thursday.
The event also included various attractive shows including dog, fish, horticulture and flower. The event was virtually inaugurated by Union Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar as Chief guest while Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh was the guest of honour, Koyu said, adding the queries of large number of visitors were eye opening and educative which would go a long way in organizing such event in future”.
