Arunachal: East Siang DA Cautions People against Venturing into Siang

Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district administration has issued an advisory cautioning the people to avoid venturing into the Siang river and streams for fishing, swimming, collecting driftwood, etc, during this monsoon season.

People living in the low-lying areas on both banks of the river, such as Jarku, Paglek, SS Mission, Jarkong, Banskota, Berung, Sigar, Borguli, Seram, Kongkul, Namsing and Mer areas, have been advised to remain alert during rainy season.

Meanwhile, the District Administration has also banned lifting of driftwood such as tree logs, bamboo clamps and any uprooted vegetative materials brought down by the river from upstream parked along both the banks of River Siang which  serves as a natural flood control mechanism.  

Anyone found violating the ban order shall initiate necessary action under section 188 IPC and other relevant provisions of law, stated DC in an advisory order.
