Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang DC Tayi Taggu called for better collaboration among all major players, including NGOs, to combat monsoon-related calamities.
DC Tayi Taggu who reviewed the district’s monsoon preparedness in a meeting with ADC Tatdo Borang, heads of offices, administrative officers, police and representatives of the BRO and the CRPF on Monday, emphasised on “timely issuing of notices to people living in vulnerable areas, and maintaining stocks of lifesaving drugs and foodgrains.”
“Natural disasters are unpredictable and, therefore, measures and good practices should be adopted in combating future calamities,” Taggu, who is also the district disaster management authority chairman, said.
He directed all line departments to review and submit their disaster management plans at the earliest.
The DC also directed the officers to remain in their respective places of posting “with full preparedness to face any monsoon eventualities.”
Department-wise monsoon preparedness plans, relief measures, early warning systems, advance procurement of relief materials, disaster response activities, etc, were also discussed.
