Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra addressed a special sainik sammelan at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) in Tamil Nadu on 4 April. The event was attended by Madras Regiment Colonel, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh and MRC Commandant, Brig Rajeshwar Singh, along with the commanding officers and senior serving officers of the Madras Regiment and JCOs and jawans of the regimental centre.
Speaking on the occasion Governor BD Mishra emphasised on being professionally competent, patriotic, dutiful, and mission-oriented. “This,” he said, “can be achieved by commitment, sacrifice and taking pride in belonging to one’s fold.”
Governor Mishra exhorted the MRC instructors to motivate and encourage the recruits to be the best soldiers of the country. “It is the commitment of the trainer officers and non-commissioned instructors to provide a strong training foundation for the recruits to enhance the fighting strength of the nation,” he said.
He presented the Governor’s Citations to the 10th battalion and the 16th battalion of the Madras Regiment for their excellent operational roles, maintaining extremely good relations with the district administration and creating an excellent bonhomie with the civil population.
He also presented a citation to the MRC for “adopting ingenious methods of training the recruits and administration, creating additional infrastructure and commissioning a much-needed baffle range in the MRC to transform the raw recruits into battle worthy combatants.”
Mishra had been commissioned in the 18th battalion of the Madras Regiment, and commanded the 7th battalion of the regiment.
