Arunachal: Governor BD Mishra Discusses Security issues with IAF Chief

Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra on Tuesday discussed various security-related issues in Arunachal with the Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.

The governor, who is on an official tour of the national capital, stressed the need for strengthening the air defence system, especially the advanced landing grounds (ALG) in Arunachal.

He advocated using these ALGs for civil purposes, besides their use by the military.

Sharing his observations about the high-altitude IAF firing range, Governor Mishra called for taking necessary steps, “so that India’s air warriors can practice precision firing practice and training.”

He also highlighted the importance of the firing ranges for the security of the nation.

The governor also impressed upon the air chief marshal to waive off the state government’s liability towards the IAF, stating that most of the flights were for humanitarian operations, including airdropping of rations in remote areas and emergency medical evacuations.

The IAF chief assured the governor that he would take up the issues at the appropriate forum of the defence establishment.

It is to be mentioned that Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari took over as the 24th CAS succeeding Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria on 30 September 2021. He earlier served as the 45th Vice Chief of the Air Staff and as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Air Command.
