Arunachal: Make a paradigm shift to be outcome-oriented, says CM Khandu

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu in his address to the pre-budget consultative meeting on Tuesday said to adopt convergence of schemes to enhance growth and development outcome. “Make a paradigm shift in development planning by moving away from expenditure-oriented projects to outcome-oriented works” he said.

He advocated taking up ‘Clean Itanagar’ mission and dovetailing and converging schemes for an effective outcome.

The meeting for Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Lower Subansiri, Kra-Daadi, Kurung Kumey and Papumpare districts was organized by the finance, planning and investment department. The consultative meetings were held in Namsai and Pasighat while the next one is scheduled at Bomdila on February 4 next.

Pointing out that such regional consultations for budget preparation are being held for the first time, Khandu requested the officials to prepare a realistic budget and not an exaggerated one without any guarantee for success.

Stressing on development of hydropower projects, he said that hydropower is the key for the state to sustain financially. However, he informed that major hydropower projects are being expedited, like 600-MW Kameng  commissioned,  works of 2880-MW Dibang and 1750MW Lower Demwe projects to start soon while 2000-MW Lower Subansiri projects targeted to be commissioned by 2022.
