Arunachal: Mayor Assures Support in Preserving Indigenous Culture & Music

Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Tame Phassang assured to extend all possible support in preserving the state’s indigenous folk music and culture. He said this while attending the valedictory programme of a five-day workshop on Hindustani classical vocal organised by the Department of Art & Culture as Chief guest, on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Phassang stated that, “The IMC also has a separate branch of social justice which also encourages youths in similar art and culture activities.”

Commending the department for organizing such events, Mayor Phassang called for organising such similar events on a large scale as it not only provides a platform for young talents of the state but also gives a platform to the youths who are diverted to antisocial activities or drug abuse. They can avail such opportunities and concentrate on fruitful activities and make their career.

“We all know that from sports to culture, our youths are not less than any other state; they only need a platform,” said Phassang.

Among others, Cultural Affairs Secretary Tai Kaye, Civil Aviation Director Tamuna Messar and Art & Culture Director Somcha Lowang attended the event.
