Arunachal: Minister urge people to support Farming Community

Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix accompanied by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung inspected cluster farming areas being practiced by the farmers’ community where they are practicing shifting cultivation and growing vegetables and other essential items of daily use. Both the ministers appealed to the people to support the farming community to become ‘Atma Nirbhar’ and self-reliant.

Felix said that the state government has been attaching priority to agriculture and is keen to support the farmers to become self sufficient and self reliant. “The Covid pandemic has taught us a lesson and to avoid such situations and problems we have to start cultivating all types of crops which will not only support our local market but others as well,” he said.

The cluster farming being practiced at Bana will be an example for other farmers of the state to start a humble beginning, Felix said and urged upon all sections of the society to help the farming community and support their initiatives.

“The state government has issued directions to all the district administration to support the farming community to become ‘Atma nirbhar’ and encourage ‘vocal for local’ so that we can buy less products from others and sell our products to others and become economically self-reliant,” Felix added.

The Home Minister added that he was happy to see that the farmers of Bana are doing well and if they get more support they will develop, Felix said and assured the farmers to provide water supply facilities for irrigation and fish culture from his end.

Natung while addressing the occasion said that the farmers are the backbone of the society and support should be extended to them in every possible way. “People should know that the government is with them but they have to shoulder the responsibility and duty for which they have been assigned. To become developed we have to develop our village and farmers are the main source,” Natung said.

Natung also announced the establishment of a  dehydration plant for turmeric and ginger at Bana and requested the DC to make a proposal while assuring to provide an amount of 50 lakh from his MLA LAD for the project.
