Arunachal: MLA, DC visit storm-hit areas in Khonsa             


Arunachal Pradesh’s MLA Wanglam Sawin, on Thursday, assured to initiate the matter with higher authority for timely release of relief against the properties damaged by a storm in Khonsa town.

The MLA along with Tirap DC Taro Mize, DDMO Pik Tayom, Magistrate Ripi Doni, AE (Power) Dekan Boje, AE (RWD) Nokchun Chimyang and G K Gataum, JE (Power), visited storm-hit areas in 36Bn CRPF camp and girls’ hostel of Government Higher Secondary School, Khonsa.

DC Taro Mize urged the electric department to restore the power supply in the girls’ hostel as well as in Government Higher Secondary School, Khonsa immediately for smooth conduct of ongoing exams.

The team also took stock of properties damaged during a thunderstorm that took place on April 29.

As per the report submitted by DDMO and the town magistrate, at least 31 buildings were fully damaged while many houses including residential schools, Anganwadi centres, hostels, government quarters, huts, church and shops etc., suffered partial damage. Four vehicles were also reportedly damaged in 36Bn CRPF camp, Khonsa.
