Arunachal: NIT Director Dedicates Badminton Court in Memory of Taba Tahi

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Director Prof Pinakeswar Mahanta on Wednesday dedicated a Badminton club and a court in memory of Taba Tahi, a social worker of Jote area.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mahanta said that Tahi was a social worker and his work for the development of the area would always be remembered.

“We should try to learn from his dedication and hard work and the young generation should follow his ideology for future development of the area,” Mahanta said.

“The Sangdupota circle is now converting into a town with several institutes including, NIT, Jarbom Gamlin Law College, Film & Television institute (FTI). It was due to his (Tahi) constant effort and we should leave no stone unturned to upkeep the assets,” Prof Mahanta added.

He thanked the organizing committee members who are also the family members of Taba Tahi for creating infrastructure in the field of games and sports which he said would go a long way for the youths of the area.

NIT Registrar Dr Uday Kumar Khanikar, HoD (Management & Humanities) Prof M M Singh, Asstiant Registrar Taba Tadhe Goyang, local public leaders and other PRI leaders of the area were also present on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that ten teams from the area took part in the first ever championship which included the team of NIT, Jarbom Gamlin Law college, Film & Television institute, North East Homoeopathic college & Hospital, Balijan Badminton club, Jote Panchayat Youth Association, All Sangdupota Youth Association among others.
