Arunachal: NSCN (K-YA) Cadre Surrenders in Longding

A 52-year-old ‘self-styled major’ of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K-Yung Aung), Ganshai Pansa, has surrendered in the Longding district. An official release said that Pansa, a resident of Votnu village under Pongchao circle of the district, voluntarily surrendered before Longding Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Bani Lego. On being inquired on the reason for surrender, he stated that he wanted to relinquish the path of violence, so had made up his mind long back to surrender to live a normal life.

Pansa had joined the outfit in 1992, but this year he decided to shun all illegal activities of the organization; as he wanted to start a normal life. He finally decided to surrender before the administration after counseling from local police and relatives. He brought with him a ‘discharge certificate’ from the organization.

The DM while welcoming him to the mainstream, told the surrendered militant to start a new beginning and live a normal life. He also cautioned him from going back to the path of violence again. In a formal surrender ceremony held at the DC office, Longding, a ‘surrender certificate’ was handed over to the surrendered militant, the release added.
