Arunachal: Police bust Cannabis supply chain in Kalaktang

In a war against drugs, the Naharlagun police busted an illegal drug supply chain with the arrest of the two main drug suppliers from Kalaktang in West Kameng district on Saturday.

The arrested duo have been identified as Tsering Rakpa of Boha village and Lobsang Dorjee aka Nima of Ankhaling village of Kalaktang circle, West Kameng district.

The police had seized a total of 246.8 kilograms of Cannabis (ganja) from Rakpa’s godown. As per police, both the accused had cultivated cannabis in large numbers in Kalaktang.

Earlier, in a major drug haul, capital police seized ganja, worth over Rs 50 lakh, from a house in Naharlagun, and arrested a woman, Tadar Kampung, wife of prime accused Tadar Chada, on June 25.

Later, Tadar Chada was arrested from the Yupia court compound on June 30 after his bail petition was rejected by the court.

During interrogation, they revealed the source of cannabis from where they had brought the material.

Following which, Capital SP Jimmy Chiram formed a 10-members team of Naharlagun police led by SDPO Dekio Gumja and SI Sushant S Jha, that went to Kalaktang and arrested the accused with the help of Kalaktang administration and police.

It is anticipated that this substantial recovery has significantly reduced the availability of Cannabis in the capital. Meanwhile, the capital police appealed to the public to come forward with information on any such activities and help their fight against drugs.
