Arunachal: Six People Complete Training on Ice-less Curling Sports

Six individuals from Arunachal Pradesh have completed the Training on Ice- less curling sport, as they took part with rest of the Indian contingent in CFI -National Ice-less curling training seminar held at Jammu and Kashmir. The event was held from 22nd to 26th September. Players and trainers from 17 States across the country took part in the training.

The trainers will now train the players in their respective states and prepare a team for ‘Khelo India National Winter Games’ which will be held on the month of December 2021 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Arunachal team was lead by  Sanjoy Dolo, the President of Arunachal Curling Association. He executed confidence that Arunachal would perform outstandingly in this game. It is to be mentioned that, although Team Arunachal took part in the training session for the very first time, it won against Senior team of Delhi by 3 points .

He further informed that, Curling Association of Arunachal will conduct National Ice- less curling training seminar in Arunachal Pradesh on the month of November.

Where they will introduce this game to the interested players and will give proper training to all the players.
And from this seminar only the Association will select players from our state to represent in Khelo India National Winter Games.

Highlighting about the curling sport, Dolo informed, “Curling is a team sport, played on ice, where two teams take it in turns to slide stones made of granite towards a target – known as a House. It is a regular Olympic and Paralympic winter sport with medal disciplines for Women’s, Men’s, Mixed Doubles and mixed Wheelchair teams.
However, it is very new sports in India”.

“Curling will also be the first winter sports in state, and since it is new to our country as well, our state have a good chance to get selected for Olympic” he added.
