Arunachal: Social Activist Urges Centre to Demarcate Border with China

China

Social Activist from Arunachal Taba Taku urges the Union Government to Demarcate a proper international boundary with China. Since Arunachal shares a 1,126 km border with China, he claimed, it is unprotected at some places while the region’s natural snow-capped mountains provide cover.

Taku urged the Union Government to develop border towns and villages so that citizens didn’t get compelled to migrate from border villages towards towns and cities, as legitimacy over empty land and mountains is the need of the hour.

“On many occasion our youths go deep jungles in search of herbs and vegetables near International boundary and end up entering Chinese territory unintentionally as the land is not demarcated and their is no border walls or railings & earlier also it was witnessed that few youths get abducted by People’s Liberation Army of China and after lots of pressure from Indian side they later release after certain tortures to our abducted youths, therefore proper demarcation and regular patrolling by Indian Army should be practiced thoroughly ” Taku added.

It is to be mentioned that two Two Arunachalee youths went missing from near the International Indo China border in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh after venturing out in search of medicinal plants.

The youths Bateilum Tikro and Bayingso Manyu hailing from the Goiliang town of Anjaw district had left for the Chaglagam area on August 19 but the family members have lodged a missing complaint with the local police on October 9 after searches for the duo yielded no results.

The family members of the youths have now sought the help of the police as they suspect that they might have crossed over to China. The family members also appealed to both the central as well as state government and the Indian Army to help them in finding the duo.
