Arunachal: Take Safety Measures for Women, Says APSCW

The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) while expressing its concern towards the  ‘increasing’ crimes against women and girl children, asked the State Government to take safety measures for women. The Commission also urged the Government to strictly monitor the issuing of Inner Line Permit to labourers from outside the State by maintaining a strict data-base of migrant workers.

The APSCW made this fresh call following the recent murder of a woman in Upper Subansiri district by a migrant labourer. The Commission condemned the ‘heinous’ crime against Yayik Nilling at Nilling, Upper Subansiri district on Nov 27. It has taken suo-moto cognizance of the case and asked the Superintendent of Police, Upper Subansiri for early submission of charge-sheet, so that justice is served.

The APSCW, meanwhile, appreciated the district police for early arrest of the prime accused in the case. However, the APWWS have expressed concern over the “rising” crime against women and children in the State. They said that the safety of women can only happen when authorities take prompt action on time.
