Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Rattan Lal Kataria and state Governor BD Mishra discussed ways and means to improve and enhance the socio-economic status of scheduled tribes in the state at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
The governor impressed upon the minister that as a late starter, Arunachal has been lacking in various fields, particularly in education and health. He suggested the MoS to facilitate social justice by helping the state’s NGOs, who are working well to bring social justice and empowerment.
Mishra asserted on providing appropriate technical training to the target group in the field of traditional and technical occupations and entrepreneurship and make them capable and self-dependent.
He also asked the minister to provide hostel facilities so that tribal girls from rural areas could pursue secondary and higher education. The minister assured to look into the issues highlighted by the governor.
Later, both of them attended ‘Divya Kala Shakti’ a cultural programme by the divyangjan at Dorjee Khandu Convention hall here.
