Arunachal Pradesh Chief minister Pema Khandu in a tweet called the inauguration of Atal Tunnel in Rohtang an historic moment.

He said in the tweet,”Moment of immense pride as our Honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi ji dedicated the 9 km long #Ataltunnel to the Nation. This will shorten the distance and also pave way for major Tourism growth in Himachal & Ladakh region. Complements to DG BRO Lt Gen Harpal Singh & entire team.”

The much awaited strategic tunnel was inaugurated by Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

It is the highest altitude tunnel in the world. The historic decision to construct the tunnel below the Rohtang Pass was taken on June 3, 2000 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime minister.
