CM Pema Khandu Urges Public to Carry Spirit of Team Arunachal

Arunachal Pradesh Chief minister Pema Khandu penned down a hearty message to the people of the state on New Year’s Eve.

CM Khandu took to social media and wrote, “With the dawn of the New Year 2022, I am delighted to convey my best wishes and greetings to my beloved people of Arunachal Pradesh”.

“The last two year saw massive disruption to our daily life due to the onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic. However, it also brought us with the great opportunity to work unitedly as a team. The past events have provided us with telling lessons and reminders to be taken into the New Year”.

He said, “To provide a recap of the previous year, we began with the good news of a state owned passenger bus reaching Anini for the first time, signaling good road connectivity reaching the last mile. We had our first e-pragati meeting held to expedite work on development projects through monthly reviews. Also we had the 600MW Kameng hydroelectric project commissioned, giving a shot in the arm for Arunachal to become self-reliant”.

“However, the development drive was again disrupted with the spread of the second Covid wave, not before the completion of my extensive tour of remote areas that included a visit to Vijayanagar in Changlang district. Despite the disruption, development work continued unabated. I was happy to dedicate the completed Itanagar to Naharlagun 4-lane highway that had languished for many years to the people”, he added.

“With our focus towards empowering entrepreneurs and farmers, SHGs were provided with bank loans. Also, credit linked subsidy schemes for farmers were launched besides the launch of an investment and innovation park to nurture local entrepreneurs”.

Chief minister Pema Khandu also said, “Amidst the ravaging pandemic, a historic bill was passed in the parliament conferring original nomenclature to various tribes of Arunachal. It was a momentous occasion in the history of Arunachal that gave back the tribes their true identity”.

“In the aviation sector, Tezu and Pasighat got connected with Flybig airlines, followed by an MoU signing to connect Mechuka, Tuting, Pasighat, Tezu, Ziro and Vijayanagar with Alliance Air’s Dornier Aircraft. Time to time, we have been regularly monitoring the construction of Hollongi Airport so that it meets its deadline”.

“For opportunities to spread evenly across the State, we have initiated holding of important government meetings out of the State capital. The last two cabinet sittings were held in Seijosa and Pasighat. Such state level meetings being held at the district level would also invigorate and provide a morale boost to the local government employees. For the first time in the history of Arunachal, a batch of newly recruited civil service officers were provided training at the level of IAS officers. Also to build the capacity of all government officers, an extended campus of IIM Shillong was set up in Arunachal to impart training”.

“There are many more such initiatives being taken for the faster development of our State but fail to be mentioned here for the paucity of space. We wish to continue with our path breaking reforms and initiatives further into this New Year so that we can assure a better future for our people. I wholeheartedly wish to thank the people of my State for their continued support and cooperation towards the development and for carrying on with the spirit of Team Arunachal. I wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year”.
