Arunachal: ‘e-Abkari’ project of Excise wing chosen for e-governance award

The ‘e-Abkari’ project of the tax and excise department here has been chosen for the 19th Computer Society of India Special Intere’e-Abkari’st Groups e-Governance Awards for Excellence, 2021, in the ‘project’ category.

On January 23, the prize will be handed at Allahabad’s Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology.

The ‘e-Abkari’ project for the state excise wing was launched on March 31, 2021, with technical assistance from NIC Itanagar and collaboration from NIC Kolkata.

It’s available online at https://eabkari.arunachal.gov.in. The project’s goal is to make doing business easier while also increasing transparency and income generation by preventing revenue leakage.

The system provides services such as the issuance of permits for the import/transport of packaged liquor, the issuance of permits for the import/transport of extra neutral alcohol, the registration of labels for packaged liquor, the revalidation of import permits, the hassle-free and secure collection of state excise fees, and so on, through the integration of the e-Payment gateway, the digitization of licensee inventory, real-time notifications via SMS and email, and the digital archiving of documentation.

This system continued to deliver services even throughout the statewide second Covid lockout, without sacrificing revenue collection.

“Till 31 December, the total number of online issue of import permit for foreign liquor is 2,898, transport permit for foreign liquor is 4,636, import permit for extra neutral alcohol is 289, and collection of its corresponding fees is Rs 52,82,54,544,” a release from the department stated.
