The long pending demand of the people of to have an Airport seems to be fulfilled by the year 2022 and not only that, the airport is said to be fully operational by 2022, the time frame given by the Central Aviation Ministry.The said project is located at NH15 Holongi, Itanagar.
Speaking to East news, Tourism and Aviation Minister, Nakap Nalo said that all the earlier issues like land clearance, compensation to the affected families and others work have been carried out successfully and the construction work has been started by maintaining SOPs. The Aviation Minister also expressed his hope that the Airport will be operational by the year 2022.
Itanagar Airport is a greenfield airport project in the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh, India is being built by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) over an area of 320 hectares. The project entails construction of a new 2300 metre runway, a terminal building measuring 5100 square metres to handle 200 passengers during peak hour, Air Traffic Control Tower and Technical block and Fire station with provisions for commercial activities such as a hotel, convention centre. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project on 9 February 2019.
