The Papum Pare district delivered piglets to 70 Borum Zila Parishad segment beneficiaries, along with various other commodities such as fodders, medicines, cleaning materials, and equipment in an event held at Borum ground on Monday.

The programme was organised by the district’s Animal Husbandry, Veterinary, and Dairy Development officer in the Borum block. PRI leaders, especially ZPM Tok Tama, backed the distribution programme.

The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tadang Bodung, District Veterinary Officer Dagge Riba, Borum Block BDO Y Dawe, and Borum ZPM Tok Tama.

The piglets were distributed as part of the Arun Pig Development Scheme 2019-20, which was unable to take place because to the Covid-19 epidemic.

As per information, piglets to more than 2,000 beneficiaries would be distributed across the district for doubling income and economic sustainability.

It is to be mentioned that Pig farming sector is one of the most sustainable industries in India. In harsh conditions, pigs are resilient and hence can survive well. Pigs are primarily reared for food and skin (e.g. bacon, ham, gammon). The breeding and feeding of domestic pigs as animals is ecological pig farming.
