In a huge achievement, Lieutenant Colonel Ponung Doming has become the first Army officer from Arunachal Pradesh to be promoted to the rank of Colonel. She will take over the command of Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) in the strategically important sector of Leh.
Ponung Doming is a resident of Pasighat in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, was commissioned into the Indian Army in 2008. She then got a degree in civil engineering.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Colonel Doming on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Lt Colonel Ponung Doming’s career in military is an inspiration for girls of #ArunachalPradesh. With a promotion to the rank of Colonel, she now moves from Corps of Engineers to Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) in the strategically important sector of Leh. My best wishes.” tweeted CM Khandu.
