Arunachal’s West Kameng DC, Shri Karma Leki on Monday inaugurated a month-long computerised knitting program for the first batch consisting of 10 knitting masters of textile & handicrafts department.
The trainees from Shi Yomi, West Siang, Leparada, Lower Siang and Tawang districts would be given training in power operated fully automatic computerized knitting machines by a master trainer cum-technician from Ludhiana in Punjab.
The initiative aims at helping knitters of the state to work on new technologies that would lead to higher production. It is also a step towards sustainable development that would have socio-economic benefits. The batch-wise training will continue till November 3.
