The Arunachal Pradesh Government has recently undertaken a significant reshuffle in the state’s police department, resulting in the transfer and posting of 35 officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS) and Arunachal Pradesh Police Service (APPS) across various locations. Out of the 35 officers who have been transferred, 14 are IPS officers, while the remaining 21 are APPS officers. Nine APPS officers holding the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP), further strengthening the leadership structure.

Creation of Itanagar Range Police Administration
The Khandu Cabinet approved the creation of the Itanagar Range Police administration, headed by a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) and supported by three SP-level officers. DIGP (PHQ) Vijay Kumar has been transferred to the newly-created Itanagar Range Police administration and will continue to serve in the same capacity, lending his expertise to this crucial department.
Strategic Transfers to Itanagar Capital Region (ICR)
To strengthen law enforcement in the Itanagar Capital Region, SP (SIT & Crime) Rohit Rajbir Singh and Changlang SP Mihin Gambo have been shifted to ICR and appointed as SP of Itanagar and Naharlagun, respectively. These strategic appointments aim to enhance the coordination and effectiveness of law enforcement agencies within the region.
Focus on Traffic Management
Recognizing the importance of efficient traffic management, SP Dr Sachin Singhal of Lower Subansiri district has been reassigned as the SP of Traffic, ICR. This transfer emphasizes the government’s commitment to improving road safety and traffic flow in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital region.
Several other transfers and promotions have taken place as part of this extensive reshuffle. Notably, DIGP (Fire & Emergency Services) Asif Md Ali has been appointed as the DIGP (HQ), responsible for the overall management and administration of the headquarters. DIGP (HQ) Amit Roy has assumed the role of DIGP (Security), focusing on strengthening security measures throughout the state. Furthermore, Pakke Kessang SP Habung Hailang has been transferred to the position of Chief Security Liaison Officer (CSLO) of the Chief Minister’s Security Cell, further bolstering the security infrastructure. Additionally, East Kameng SP Rahul Gupta has been appointed as the SP of Tirap, and Namsai SP Dr D W Thungon has been transferred to serve as the SP of Tawang.
