A Tribute to reputed academician and social worker Parama Nanda Medhi who left for his heavenly abode at the age of 81, on October 29. Being a long-time educator his motivation simply lies in the innate desire to help others, he was committed to a social worker who worked for the uplift of society, particularly in the field of art and culture.
Medhi, A resident of BR Phukan Road near Bharalumukh, obtained his school and college education in Shillong. he started his career at a very young age at Sonaram Higher Secondary School, He took the school to newer heights with his unabating efforts. Medhi was a colonizer in establishing the west Guwahati Bihu sammilan and organizing the annual Magh Bihu festivals on a grand scale. He was also involved in setting up the Assam Cultural Trust (ITA) At Machkhowa. He leaves behind his wife, a son, two daughters, son in law and grandchildren.
