On Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) in Duliajan and unveiled a platform where users may register for new pipeline gas connections as well as lodge complaints.
The chief minister, who was joined by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli and AGCL Chairman Bolin Chetia, also reviewed AGCL’s operations and ongoing projects. Sarma expressed optimism that the public sector company’s yearly revenue will reach Rs 1,000 crore in the next two years.
“To enhance the experience of consumers of piped natural gas, I have launched a portal of Assam Gas Company Limited where consumers can apply for new gas connections and lodge complaints as well,” the chief minister said.
The chief minister then went to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh to check on the status of the cancer hospital’s work.
The Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a not-for-profit collaboration between the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, is building the 200-bed cancer hospital.
According to the CM, the state administration has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open 8 of the 17 cancer facilities being built across Assam via video conferencing from a single site. The inauguration is scheduled for April, coinciding with the Bohag Bihu celebrations, according to Sarma.
