Amid Elections Pakistani Flag found in Rangia Assam, Congress blames BJP

Angry residents of Gorkuchi area of Rangia on Thursday set fire to a Pakistani flag after they found it fluttering on a small bamboo stick on the roadside.

The Rangiya constituency went to the polls during the second phase of the Assam Assembly elections on Thursday.

Babhesh Kalita of the BJP Babul Sahariah of the Assam Jatia Parishad (AJP), Bhagavan Dev Misra of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and four independent candidates are in fray in the constituency for the Assam Assembly elections.

Although no one has claimed responsibility for unfurling the flag, a blame game has erupted between different political parties accusing BJP of mischief and an attempt to divert the minds of the voters from real polls issues in the ongoing Assam Assembly elections.

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) condemned the incident and the saffron party for such activity.

A Congress leader said on condition of anonymity that, ‘This was the handiwork of BJP. They have learned that the Congress-led grand alliance is going to win from the Rangiya constitution’.

It is trying to malign the image of the Mahajot by engaging in such activity, later he added.

On the other hand, BJP representatives dismissed the incident as a failed attempt by people with vested interest to ruin the party’s prospects in the Assam Assembly elections.
