Superintendent of Excise, Manshjyoti Das, was arrested by Assam Police Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday, for taking bribe from wine shop owners.

Along with Das, an off-roll office peon Arjun Basfore was also arrested from Tinsukia district.

ACB officials caught Das red-handed while demanding money, in a trap laid by the anti-corruption task force.

From the task force, 11 members were sent to various locations in Tinsukia to gather details regarding Das.

A police source said, “A team of 11 ACB officials laid a trap in Tinsukia after getting information about the officer of taking bribe. Altogether, 11 ACB officials laid a trap and caught him red-handed while taking bribe”.

A case was registered at the ACB police station against Das and both the accused will be produced before the special court in Guwahati on Friday.
