The Assam BJP if voted to power plans to implement a law where a couple will need to disclose their religion, income etc. before marriage.
This law will be included by the Assam BJP in its manifesto for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections.
Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “In our manifesto, we are going to promise a comprehensive Bill on disclosure of confidentiality clause while engaging in a marriage ceremony. One will have to first disclose their identity, religion, income everything before one enters into a marriage with any girl.”
After few of the BJP-ruled States in the Country announced laws on ‘love-jihad’, Assam Minister Sarma made this announcement.
This will be done to make marriages more transparent by the legislation, said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“The law would also require couples from same religion to furnish details about themselves and their families,” Sarma added.
