Assam: Chirang district affected by Floods & Erosion in Numerous Locations

Chirang district saw flash floods and erosion in numerous locations after heavy rains from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.

Gagan Narzary, Chirang’s District Information and Public Relations Officer, told the media that the floodwaters had impacted 42 villages, 13,237 people, 479.5 hectares of cropland, and 920 animals. “Flood also destroyed six dwellings and degraded three roadways,” he said.

Meanwhile, within the Bengtal and Bijni Revenue circle, the government rescued 23 individuals from flood-affected regions and created 20 relief camps for 6,372 convicts, he noted.
