Assam: CM pays tribute to Bhupen Hazarika on his 95th birthday

Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary singer from Assam, celebrates his birthday today. He claims he learned to sing from his mother, who used to sing him lullabies when he was a child. She had also introduced him to the folk music of the state.

Bhupen Hazarika went on to become the best playback singer, lyricist, musician, poet, and filmmaker in Assam. His musical works were mostly written in Assamese.

On the occasion of the Bard of Brahmaputra’s 95th birthday, many influential figures took to Twitter to wish the iconic singer a happy birthday. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Twitted: “Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s contribution to the cultural sphere of Assam is undeniable.
