Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal submitted his resignation from the CM’s post along with his council of ministers, on Sunday.
Raj Bhavan sources said, “Chief Minister Sonowal and his entire council of ministers have tendered their resignations to Assam Governor Jagadish Mukhi who has accepted them”.
The next Chief Minister of Assam will be elected by the newly formed BJP MLAs after conducting a meeting at Assam Assembly secretariat in Dispur on 9th of May(Sunday).
Central leadership has appointed Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and party National General Secretary Arun Singh to supervise the entire selection process of the legislature party leader.
Speculation are going as to who will become the next chief minister of Assam. Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is most likely to be the next CM of the State.
The BJP along with its alliance partners AGP ad UPPL won 60 seats, nine seats and six seats respectively, in the 126-member state Assembly.
