The COVID-19 patient who was infected by mucormycosis or black fungus has succumbed to the infection in Guwahati on Wednesday at 6 am.

The deceased has been identified as twenty-seven-year-old Polomoni Bora, a resident of Morigaon district who succumbed to the rare infection at Apollo Hospital in Guwahati.

The hospital administration has however made no official declaration.
