Officials informed that there has been a shortage of vaccine in Assam amid the surge in Covid-19 cases, and the current stock of vaccine would be over in just two or three days.
At present, there are around 2.70 lakh doses of vaccine in the state.
Around 54,000 people received vaccine on Thursday and on Friday almost 55,000 were immunized, NHM officials said.
“At this rate, the existing stock will exhaust in 2-3 days. However, the Central government had said a consignment will be sent by April 12. Though there is no confirmation yet, we are hopeful,” said an official.
The existing supply has been distributed to the districts which has caused the inconvenience. The doses are now allocated in a different way to keep the sites operational.
In Assam, around 11.80 lakh people have received the first dose and 2.23 lakh people have received the second till Thursday.
