A death penalty has been demanded by many tribal organizations and social activists of Assam against the ones who raped and murdered 12-year-old tribal girl, Sumila Ronghangpi at Raha in Nagaon district.

Assam unit of All India Tribal Students’ Students’ Association, Kundiyo Mission Society, Assam unit of Deori Peoples Justice Forum and tribal social & legal activist Raju Deuri raised the demand for the death penalty.

In a press conference at Guwahati on Wednesday the organizations and tribal activists claimed that Sumila Ronghangpi was brutally murdered at Raha in Nagaon district on April 22, 2021 after physical, mental and sexual abuse.

Sumila Ronghangpi was a resident of Kudam Ronghang Arong under Boithalangso police station in West Karbi Anglong district.
