The State Government’s next Cabinet Meeting, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, will be held on September 30 in Dhemaji, North Assam. The meeting will take place in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.

The district administration has made all necessary moves and arrangements to ensure that the meeting runs smoothly. When Dhemaji was separated from Lakhimpur district on October 14, 1989, it became a full-fledged district. The district’s headquarters are in Dhemaji, while the commercial headquarters are in Silapathar.

In this district, there are two Legislative Assembly constituencies (LACs): No. 113 Dhemaji LAC and No. 114 Jonai LAC. They are located in the 14th Parliamentary Constituency of Lakhimpur. Scheduled Tribes are allowed to use both LACs (ST). Currently, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Kumar Pegu represents Dhemaji LAC, while BJP MLA Bhuban Pegu represents Jonai LAC.
