Dhubri police have detained two Assam Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department engineers from a “distant area” in West Bengal. Saddam Hussain and Abdullah Al-Masud Mollah, two imprisoned P&RD engineers, have been identified.

The detained engineer duo allegedly stole Rs 52.72 lakh from the government by submitting fraudulent bills under the Gauripur Development Block in Assam’s Dhubri district.

The arrests were made following the filing of a FIR by Animesh Talukdar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dhubri Zila Parishad and Project Director of DRDA, Dhubri.
