Tributes were paid to the former Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi after his ashes arrived in Sivasagar on Saturday.
During a meeting organized in Dolmukh Chariali in Sivasagar, the pot that carried Tarun Gogoi’s ashes were showered with flowers as tribute by a large gathering of people.
An inter-faith prayer meet and Naam Prasanga (prayer) were held on the occasion.
Gaurav Gogoi was present on the occasion along with the leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Debabrata Saikia and a host of Congress leaders, Lt. Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi was also present during the occasion.
His ashes will be taken to every district and it will be immerse in different rivers of the state, as a symbol of his sentiments on peace and respect he gave to the people of Assam.
