The Deputy Commissioners of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts have been advised by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to extend the curfew timings by two hours.
Since the second wave of the deadly virus, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts, apart from Kamrup (Metro), have been the worst-hit districts in Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Assam Medical and Hospital (AMCH) to enquire about the Covid-19 situation, on Saturday.
The Chief Minister said, “I have advised DC Dibrugarh to impose curfew in Dibrugarh district from noon of May 17 with due consultation with eminent citizens and businessmen of the district. The deputy commissioner will take the decision accordingly”.
The Chief Minister visited the district hospital at Tinsukia to enquire about the facilities for COVID patients. He advised the Deputy Commissioner to conduct around 500 RT-PCR tests daily, 2000 screening, strict containment protocols and extend curfew timings by two hours.
The Chief Minister tweeted, “I along with Union Min @Rameswar_Teli, Min @SANJOYKISHAN1 & MLAs visited district hospital at Tinsukia to take stock of facilities put in place for #COVID19 patients including ICU beds, oxygen availability etc. I asked doctors to ensure (the) best possible treatment”.
