On Friday morning Former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta complained of a chest pain after which he was admitted to a private hospital in Guwahati.

The 68-year-old senior politician was taken to the Downtown Hospital as informed by his family.

A detail of his health status is being awaited, as the hospital authorities have not disclosed anything yet.

Mahanta was hospitalized in Guwahati earlier in September 2020 after complaining of “very high pressure”. He was a diabetic patient.

Mahanta is the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) MLA from the Barhampur Assembly constituency in central Assam’s Nagaon district.
