From 1st May, 2021 the COVID-19 vaccine would be provided free of cost to anyone who is above 18 years, as announced by the Government of Assam.
Assam had placed an offer of Rs 1 crore doses from Bharat Biotech.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Assam will give FREE vaccines to everyone from 18-45 years. GOI (Government of India) is giving free vaccines for 45+. Funds collected in Assam Arogya Nidhi last year shall be utilised for the procurement of vaccines. Today itself, we’ve placed orders for 1 cr doses with Bharat Biotech.”
