To boost the MSME sector in the state, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the industries and commerce department of Assam with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
An official release said, SIDBI will assign a project management unit (PMU) with Government of Assam to look after the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, according to the MoU.
“The PMU will support the state government in making necessary interventions for enhancing efficacy of MSMEs in the state,” it added.
The collaboration with SIDBI will bring all the MSMEs of the state to the formal, organised sector, said Industries and Commerce Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary on the occasion. SIDBI was requested by Patowary to spread awareness of its micro financing system for the benefit of the people. SIDBI’s support to the indigenous entrepreneurs working in sectors like bamboo, bell-metal and other items was also sought by Patowary.
