Assam continues to have problems with violence against women and girls. In Bijni, Baksa, a guy was detained for reportedly rapping a young girl.

Fazlur Ali, the accused, raped a 15-year-old girl as she was on her way to collect their domestic goats from a nearby property. The event occurred in the Labdanguri neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator was detained by the Labdanguri police after the victim made a report. In the neighbourhood, there is still a lot of buzz.

Several groups, including the local AASU chapter and the Hindu Jagaran Mancha, have called for the accused to be executed. Furthermore, others have urged the government to pass a strict legislation prohibiting rape and other sexual assaults against women.
