Assam: MTV Comedy Base Camp featured Assam comedian Pratyasha Rana

Pratyasha Rana, a Guwahati-based stand-up comedian, has appeared on MTV’s Center Fruit Comedy Base Camp, a talent search for the world’s highest-ever comedy show. The show is presented by Cyrus Broacha, a quick-witted comic, and is assessed by a panel of well-known comedians.

Pratyasha is the first female comedian from Assam. She works as a full-time copywriter and has been doing stand-up comedy for the past 2.5 years. Her comedy tackles topics like body acceptance, gender injustice, and defying societal standards, among others. Her performances and refreshing sense of humour are inspired by everyday events that many women can relate to.

“It was my first time on a reality show camera. Even though I have recorded many sets before, this felt surreal. I was quite nervous but seeing my childhood heroes Cyrus Broacha and Anu Menon at an arm’s length was very warm and welcoming,” Pratyasha said.

“Everyone in the team was professional and helpful that made the entire experience very comfortable. I am delighted to have represented Assam on national TV,” she said.
